Reiki

I was first introduced to Reiki a few years ago during my coach training program.  All I had heard at the time was that it was one of many Energy Healing Arts modalities.

According to Wikipedia, Reiki (霊気) is a spiritual practice developed by Japanese Buddhist  Mikao Usui.  It uses a technique commonly called palm healing or hands on healing as a form of complementary therapy and is sometimes classified as oriental medicine by some professional medical bodies. Through the use of this technique, practitioners believe that they are transferring universal energy (i.e., reiki) in the form of qi (Japanese: ki) through the palms, which allows for self-healing and a state of equilibuium:

The first thing that came to mind:  The Karate Kid (Macchio, not Smith) Miyagi claps, breathes deeply, and what do you know, young Danielson can finish the fight.

Who wouldn’t want to know how to do that?!?

Okay.  Maybe there are a few who wouldn’t want to do that.  I’m just not one of them.

Which brings me to the more important question:  Why would anyone want to do that; more specifically, why would I want to do that?

I’m looking forward to finding out, which is why I’ve registered for a Reiki I workshop.

I’ll let you know …

Thank you for growing with me
